U-JOINT & STEERING SHAFT KIT

Brand New Southwest Speed Steering Shaft and U-Joint Kit.

In order to determine which shaft and u-joint combination you need, you can follow these steps: 

• Determine which style steering shaft you need for your specific application: 3/4" Double D or 1" Double D.
• Measure the distance from the column to the steering gear box to determine which length shaft you need: 6", 18", or 36"
  
• Determine which spline is on your steering box or rack. You can measure and count, using the spline charts above for reference.
  
• U-Joint Side #1 will match chosen steering shaft (3/4" DD or 1" DD). U-Joint Side #2 must be chosen from the dropdown menu.

• Southwest Speed Universal Steering Shaft:
  • Southwest Speed Universal Steering Shafts are manufactured using the highest quality materials available, and are built to handle the abuse from high horsepower applications. This is an inexpensive way of Replacing your steering shaft or adding a steering shaft. This shaft can be cut down to the correct length you need. We offer a variation of different length steering shafts to fit nearly every application, refer to the chart below to decide which universal joint will fit your application.

• Southwest Speed Steering Universal Joint:
  • It is always a good idea to replace the universal joint when doing any work on the steering system. Southwest Speed Steering Universal Joints are manufactured using the highest quality materials available, and are built to handle the abuse from high horsepower applications. Replacing the universal joints is an inexpensive way to refresh the steering system.
  • Side #1 will match chosen steering shaft (3/4" DD or 1" DD)

Note: When using more than two universal joints in a system, a support heim must be used.

Note: Increasing a U-Joint's angle of operation beyond 30° dramatically increases the stress on the joint, weakening the entire steering mechanism. If a greater angle is needed, add another u-joint.
