Brand New Vega 140 GM Manual Steering Box & Pitman Arm designed to mount to the outside of the frame rail for the applications described below (Part #105-3011 & #107-1446). These are brand new items produced by Southwest Speed Inc.
Features:
- Vega GM Manual Steering Box:
- Steering Shaft Spline: 5/8"-36
- Ratio: 20 : 1
- 5 1/2" Turns (Lock-to-Lock)
- Mounting pattern is 2 3/4" and 4 3/8" center-to-center of the three mounting holes
- Centerline of the output shaft to the front of the box is approximately 3"
- Overall length of the box, not including the input shaft, is 5 3/4"
- Input shaft extends rearward 1 3/16"
- From adjust screw to end of output shaft is 8"
- From outside of box to area on mounting surface is 4 1/2"
- Box has a swell in the casting that extends past the mounting legs an additional 1/4"
- This is the stock configuration, meaning when you turn the input shaft clockwise, the output shaft also turns clockwise
- Recommended for vehicles weighing 2800 lbs or less
- Pitman Arm:
- Gold zinc plated
- Non-offset design
- Double-tapered "Ford" tie rod end hole allows you to attach the drag link on the top or on the bottom
- Measures:
- 6 3/8" Center-to-Center
- 7 7/8" Total length
- Tapered tie rod hole measures 0.625" on both sides and tapers down to 0.585" in the center of the hole

Steering Wheel Ratio Explanation:
- 8:1 Turn Steering Wheel 8 Degrees: Pitman Arm Turns 1 Degree
- 12:1 Turn Steering Wheel 12 Degrees: Pitman Arm Turns 1 Degree
- 14:1 Turn Steering Wheel 14 Degrees: Pitman Arm Turns 1 Degree
- 16:1 Turn Steering Wheel 16 Degrees: Pitman Arm Turns 1 Degree
- 20:1 Turn Steering Wheel 20 Degrees: Pitman Arm Turns 1 Degree
- 22:1 Turn Steering Wheel 22 Degrees: Pitman Arm Turns 1 Degree
- For a Better explanation: 360 degrees of rotation on steering wheel equals 18 degrees of movement on the pitman arm or shaft. 360 divided by 18 equals 20 to 1 ratio.
